Brussels is a vibrant, multicultural city that hosts many leading international organizations and institutions. The Dutch Bar of Brussels provides support to its members in their daily practice, safeguards their interests, and bridges the gap between the traditional values of the legal profession and modern societal challenges.

This page contains all the information you need about registering with the Dutch Bar of Brussels, the professional rules of conduct you must follow, as well as insurance policies and social security for lawyers.

Have you graduated in law from a foreign university, are you a fully qualified member of a foreign Bar Association, and do you wish to register with the Brussels Bar?

Here, you will find an overview of all registration formalities and the required documents for your application.

Foreign lawyers registered on the EU list are required to follow not only the regulations of their own bar association but also adhere to the ethical standards outlined in the Flemish Code of Ethics for Lawyers, which apply to Flemish lawyers listed on the list of trainees or the Tableau.

The annual membership fee of the Brussels Bar includes several insurances, such as professional liability insurance and disability insurance. Additionally, as a lawyer on the EU list of the Brussels Bar, you are subject to the Belgian social security system.
